SHOWT is an action group of local villages campaigning against the development of a wind turbine installation near Hempnall, a small village in rural South Norfolk some seven miles south of Norwich and with a population of just under 1300 people.
We successfully defeated a planning application by Enertrag UK Ltd for 7 turbines in 2009. The application was refused by South Norfolk Council (SNC). Enertrag took it to appeal and we beat them at the Public Inquiry.
However, as many local campaigns such as ours have already experienced, wind installation developers and landowners do not heed anyone whether it be nearby residents, local authorities, parish councils or planning inspectors. Enertrag sold the site rights to TCI who have now submitted an application for 4 x 126.5metre turbines. SNC are currently collecting responses from consultees and individuals. We strongly urge anyone opposed to this application to write to SNC. You can find the details on how and where to write by clicking here. SHOWT has engaged Grover Lewis Associates Ltd to present our case on Cultural Heritage. Other sections of our case have been prepared by local experts and the SHOWT Steering Team.
