The SHOWT mission statement
SHOWT is an action group of local villages campaigning against Enertrag UK’s proposal to develop a wind turbine site north-east of Hempnall, Norfolk.
SHOWT believes that Enertrag’s proposal to construct seven 130 metre turbines in this sensitive location will create a major and unacceptable visual impact on the quality of Hempnall’s rural landscape, and will deprive local people and visitors of their right to enjoy this precious amenity.
SHOWT supports renewable energy schemes providing they do not create any undue adverse impact on the landscape and that they have regard for the desirability of conserving the natural beauty and amenity of the countryside.
SHOWT believes - particularly in the case of the Hempnall proposal - that onshore wind energy schemes can create a severe environmental impact that more than outweighs the claimed benefits.
