As you know, TCI ‘s application will now be decided at Public Inquiry. However, SNC’s Planning Committee still has to announce what their decision would have been. They will consider the application on Wednesday, 29 January 2014. It is vital that we pack the room with our supporters to show the strength of local opposition, so please put this date in your diary.
The second major development is that SHOWT has joined forces with Hempnall and Saxlingham Parish Councils to share barrister representation at the Public Inquiry. We have joint “Rule 6” status. As a Rule 6 party, we have equal status with TCI and SNC at the Inquiry. It carries much more weight with Inspectors if opposition factions are united under Rule 6, so this approach gives us maximum impact at the Inquiry and is a vital step forward. The dates proposed for the Inquiry are 1 – 4 and 8 – 11 April 2014. Please put these dates in your diary too.
SHOWT has undertaken to fund the Cultural Heritage case at the Inquiry, which, as you know, has been our fundamental approach in this campaign. The Parish Councils will be dealing with the other important aspects of Visual Intrusion and Ecology. This means we must begin fund-raising in earnest again and the first date for your diary is Sunday, 19 January 2014 12.30 – 3pm for a Stew Lunch in Hempnall Village Hall. Tickets £10 for adults, £5 for children. Phone Margaret on 01508 499246 to reserve tickets (money will be taken on the day). Alternatively, email SHOWT for reservations. Let us know if you want the vegetarian option. Offers of help and raffle prizes would be very welcome. Our Stew Lunches are always very popular, so do book early.
There will be other fund-raising events in the next few months and we will publish them here on the website and let you know by email. If you have Supporter neighbours without email, please let them know what’s happening.
