Campaign Groups

As energy companies have rushed to put forward planning applications for wind power stations, rural communities throughout the UK feel themselves under siege by the developers and have formed action groups to defend their quality of life. More often than not, groups have been formed by people who are of all political parties or none, who may have no experience of planning processes or the law, but who feel their way of life and their environment is threatened by the prospect of industrialisation of the countryside.

In most cases they, like SHOWT, understand and support the need for renewable energy but question the perceived sacrifice of vast tracts of our countryside for a relatively insignificant return for everyone except the power station developers.
